project description
WCG worked as part of a collaborative design team on two phases of stream and habitat restoration on Piney Run totaling 9,800 linear feet with the goals of restoring sinuosity, reconnecting the floodplain, providing localized bank stabilization, and enhancing in-channel and adjacent terrestrial habitat.
WCG’s role was to provide technical expertise and design review guidance for all aspects of the project including 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling, bridge hydraulics, bank shear stress assessment, and channel stability analysis. WCG lead the erosion and sediment control design including development of the sequence of construction to comply with Maryland’s Waterway Construction Guidelines.
